Movie Talk: Vampire Academy – Blood Sisters

If you know anything about me – I’m a HUGE Vampire Academy/Bloodlines fan. It’s one of those series that has the right amount of drama, action, romance and paranormal elements to keep me perfectly happy. I’m thrilled about the new movie coming out next year.

As many of you probably know, the first official teaser was released a few days ago.

My thoughts? As excited as I am over the movie, they’re managed to turn this trailer into Twilight meets Gossip Girl. Nothing wrong with that. I watched every episode of Gossip Girl and really enjoyed it. But it’s not quite what I was expecting from Blood Sisters. That said – trailers are supposed to get people who know nothing about the story. I dare say there are a lot of VA fans like myself who will be seeing this movie regardless of how the trailers look. And I could see enough in this one minute teaser to show that there’s a lot that I like in there. Rose does look pretty bad arse πŸ˜›

I’d love to know what you think.

Is this a movie you want to see? Does the teaser do the books justice? What are your thoughts regarding the casting? All comments are welcome. πŸ˜€

  1. I will see the movie regardless as I love the books. πŸ™‚ But this looks really, really bad… Lissa looks wrong to me and I even think her voice sounds weird. Just like you said Rose looks like a badass and so far I really like her. But honestly? When I saw the trailer I could not believe it was the VA trailer it seems so bad. πŸ™ But I really like Rose in the trailer and I hope she will make the movie a bliss to watch. πŸ˜€

    • I’m hoping that in the actual film and without the music track from the trailer – the voices won’t be quite as annoying πŸ˜›
And I’ve never been a huge Lissa fan. I hope she’ll be in the background but the title – blood sister… sort of feels like she’ll be given more time than she deserves πŸ˜› I shouldn’t feel like this. The actor of Lissa is an Australian! I should be more patriotic πŸ˜› Thanks for the comment!

      • You’re welcome. πŸ™‚ I was never really a Lissa fan in the books either, I liked her as a background character but Rose was always to awesome for me to pay attention to Lissa! πŸ˜€ Really, I don’t really know anything about the actors because until a few days ago I had totally forgotten about the movie. The trailer is just one minute long after all so I really hope that they sawed the best parts to the when the fans hit the theater. πŸ˜‰

  2. To be honest, I was super disappointed with this trailer. I have been looking forward to this movie for SO long! I totally agree with your Gossip Girl comment – I think they missed the mark on what this series is actually about.
Hopefully the movie will be MUCH better than this trailer makes it out to be πŸ™

  3. It is hard to tell from just a minute long trailer, but I’ll see the movie no matter what. Maybe I wasn’t paying much attention in the books, but I don’t remember everyone being so well-dressed and fashionable. That makes it look like Gossip Girl. And I agree, Lissa was never one of my favorite characters so I hope they focus more on Rose and Dimitri, but from this trailer (and the title) that probably won’t happen.

    • Aww… Thanks Kayla! And I think VA are almost anti-twilight. There is romance but it’s mostly about vampires that do kill and need human blood to survive πŸ˜› Not that I’m biased because I love this series and can’t stand Twilight….

  4. I very much agree, this trailer was very disappointing. I’m still holding out hope for the movie but that trailer was not impressive at all. I do love the casting of Rose, though!

  5. I loved the book and loved the casting they did for this movie. That being said I thought the trailer was only “Okay”. It wasn’t what I was expecting, it wasn’t bad but after the trailer came out I because worried hat Mark Waters is going to make this too “Mean Girlish”. Either way I’m going to go see the movie.

  6. I love VA. Lissa and Christian? Rose and Dimitri? Adrian? Mason? Eddie? I love these guys! And I am in love with Bloodlines.

But WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED WHEN THE STORY WENT TO SCREEN? OMG. The movie made me so angry. It was like the filmmakers hated the books or had a personal vendetta against Mead and decided to write a parody. The only characters they got right were Rose, Mason, and maybe Christian. What happened to Lissa? And they didn’t deal with spirit and its impacts properly. And where the hell was Eddie? He is such a massive character from Frostbite onwards that he should’ve been there!

As a dedicated fan of the books, when I got an email about a Kick starter campaign for Frostbite, I deleted it. After what they did to VA, why would I let them near any more of the story?

    Okey dokey. Rant over ☺
